The National Rifle Association announced today it is backing JasonGibbs for Secretary of State in the Republican primary on Tuesday, August 24th.
The endorsement, and its accompanying “A” rating – the NRA’s highestpossible grade – were based on the results of a candidate survey conductedearlier this year, as well as Gibbs’ support among Vermont’s sporting community and record as commissioner of the Departmentof Forests, Parks and Recreation where he made Vermont’s outdoor traditions apriority in his leadership.
Rebecca Williams, the NRA’s Vermont State Liaison, said the NRA is going with Gibbs because of his strong and vocal support of our right to keepand bear arms. NRA members will know that Gibbs’ “A” rating and endorsementmeans he is a pro-Second Amendment, pro-hunting advocate who strongly supports issues important to gun owners and sportsman.
